God’s Word Builds a Successful Life
by Pastor Dennis Mongoso
Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like; He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.” (Luke 6:47-48) The passage reflects a life with a good foundation. It is a life of victory. What kind of house will be built if the carpenter does not follow the architect's plan? We have to dig deep on God's Word and cement it in our heart and mind.
The people of Israel during Moses' time heard these words from God: “Be strong and courageous. Only be strong and very courageous: Be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you: Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” (Joshua 1:6-8). True measurement of success is not base on what you have gained in life: It is all about what God has been doing thru your life.
How did the people responded to God? “ They answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. Anyone who rebels against your command and does not obey your words in all that you command him, shall be put to death; only be strong and courageous.” (Joshua 16-18). We see here that obedience is better than sacrifice.
If we are obeying God's Word and following God's commandments, then our life will be successful. This kind of life will always stand during trials and temptations.
